Stay Cool

As the summer heat begins settling upon us, it’s a good time to remind ourselves of the best ways to stay cool, hydrated and healthy. Take a look at our 5 Cool Tips!

  1. Water, of course. We all know that you should drink plenty of water when it’s hot, but did you know that you should actually drink water before you’re thirsty? Thirsty means you’re headed to dehydration, so don’t wait. Drink consistently over the course of the day.
  2. Keep it loose and light. Choose clothing that fits more loosely and is made of lighter, more absorbent fabrics. Stay away from form-fitting, dark-colored clothing. You’ll notice the difference, promise!
  3. Limit caffeine and alcohol consumption. They’re diuretics and actually may dehydrate you more.
  4. It’s not just water! Watermelon, popsicles, lettuce and many other fruits and vegetables are packed with hydrating fluids. Plus, they’re great snacks.
  5. Your body knows. Even when you take precautions, the heat can still get to the best of us. If you’re feeling overexerted, get out of the heat, drink fluids, rest and make sure someone is with you. Remember, summer fun should be just that!
