5 Reasons to Visit Hilton Head Island During the Holidays

Hilton Head holidaysWhere will you be spending your holidays this year? Doesn’t Christmas or Thanksgiving by the beach sound nice? Enjoy a hearty meal and then sit and listen to the waves crash ashore. Consider spending all or part of your holidays in Hilton Head. Here are 5 good reasons why:

1)      It’s warmer here! The 80-degree days of summer may be gone, but we’re pretty sure Hilton Head Island is warmer than most places around the country come November and December. The average highs stay in the 40s and 50s during those months. On a sunny day, you’ll barely even notice a chill, and often a 70-degree will arrive in the midst of winter to give you a warm weather respite. We’ve spent many a Christmas walking around in shorts J.

2)      There’s lots to do – Hop on a bike and ride around the island, play endless rounds of golf and get on the tennis courts with friends and family. Of course, could anything beat a walk on the beach on Christmas morning?

3)      Shop till you drop – Shopping is a big part of the holidays, and there is plenty of shopping in Hilton Head. From the Tanger Outlets to art galleries to boutique shops in Harbour Town and Shelter Cove, you’re sure to find a one-of-a-kind gift.

4)      Food galore – The holidays are also about food and Hilton Head Island has it in spades. Let a local caterer handle your affair or head to one of our local restaurants like Hudson’s Thanksgiving Community Dinner. You’ll certainly find the regular holiday staples, but why not throw in some oysters or shrimp, too?

5)      The beach – We think this is the best reason of all. Miles of Atlantic Ocean to soothe the stress of the holidays. Walk, ride your bike, gather shells or just gaze on its beauty. It’ll be like a holiday you’ve never had.
