Hilton Head Island Thanksgiving Day Celebrations 2013

Thanksgiving Hilton HeadLeave the cold weather, the bare trees and leaf raking behind and head to Hilton Head Island for your family’s Thanksgiving get-together. Imagine a morning walk on the beach, a bike ride to burn off some of the meal’s calories and Black Friday shopping at our many unique store and boutiques. It could be you!

Here are some of the Thanksgiving Day meals offered on the island this year if you’d prefer to leave the cooking and dishes to someone else J:

Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks is known for its annual Thanksgiving Day tradition here in the Lowcountry. Each year they host a free Thanksgiving Community Dinner open to the public in conjunction with St. Andrew By-The-Sea United Methodist Church. While it’s designed to ensure those who live alone or may be in financial need get a plentiful meal, anyone is welcome to attend (donations accepted) and especially to volunteer. Last year, more than 400 volunteers served 1600 people!

This year’s event is scheduled for Nov. 28 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and the menu includes traditional favorites like mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, collards, stuffing, apple pie and of course plenty of turkey to go around!

Frankie Bones, a popular Hilton Head restaurant located on Main Street, will be serving Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 28 between noon and 8 p.m. Choose from entrees of turkey, spaghetti squash primavera, maple-roasted pork loin, Frankie’s lobster mac & cheese, Atlantic salmon Oscar or a 12 oz. prime rib. They will have traditional sides and desserts, as well as appetizers, soups and salads. Reserve your spot by calling 843.682.4455.

Red Fish of Hilton Head, located at 8 Archer Road, will be open as well with a four-course Thanksgiving meal that is $45 for adults and $17 for children. Entrees include fresh range turkey, roast prime rib or grilled Scottish salmon each served with whipped Yukon gold potatoes, stuffing, corn, French beans almondine, butternut squash, cornbread, rolls and cranberry relish. Call 843-686-3388 for reservations.

Finally, golfers might enjoy gnoshing on turkey with a beautiful view of the Robert Trent Jones Hilton Head golf course at Palmetto Dunes resort, where we offer vacation rentals. Their Big Jim’s BBQ, Burgers & Pizza restaurant will serve plated Thanksgiving meals from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day for $18.95 per person and $9.95 for kids 12 and younger. Their menu includes a choice of salad bar or oyster corn chowder to start, a main course of carved turkey with cranberry sauce, one of three traditional sides, and a slice of pumpkin pie or pecan pie for dessert. Call 843-686-9136 for reservations.

Wherever you choose to spend Turkey Day, we hope it’s a great one and you get your fill of your favorite dishes. For more information on Hilton Head accommodations, please visit or call us at 800-276-8991.
