Hilton Head Named to TripAdvisor’s Top 10 Islands in the U.S.

Hilton Head vacation rentalsWe already knew our island was awesome, but it seems the users of TripAdvisor have realized it, too! In a new ranking from the largest travel website in the world, TripAdvisor selected Hilton Head Island as the No. 9 island in the United States.

Here’s what they had to say about the island:

Long known as a golfer’s paradise, Hilton Head Island is heaven for any type of sports enthusiast. Tennis, volleyball, polo, championship golf on some of the best fairways in the United States – those are just a few athletic options. In fact, the island plays host to many prestigious sporting events throughout the year. All of it surrounded by sunny beaches and lush greenery. In between games or matches, explore Hilton Head’s natural wonders. The Sea Pines Forest Preserve offers a close-up look at a swamp without having to get mucky. Raised boardwalks provide a protected path for pedestrians. And don’t miss the colorful Harbourtown Lighthouse, the island’s icon. Choose from a number of first-class resorts and hotels to experience it all.

We couldn’t agree more, except we’d suggest you choose from among our first-class Hilton Head vacation rentals to “experience it all.” J

TripAdvisor based their selection of top U.S. islands on the quality and quantity of the most highly-rated hotels, restaurants and attractions listed for each island on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period.

Other islands that made the cut? Maui, Hawaii  & Kauai, Hawaii; San Juan Island, Wash.; Key West, Fla.; and Nantucket, Mass., among others. Hilton Head was the only South Carolina island to make the list.

“There is something transporting about an island vacation, and these Travelers’ Choice Islands winners will help travelers find their next escape,” says Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “From the coral reefs of Ambergris Caye to the beaches of Ko Tao, these winning islands have been highly rated from travelers around the globe.”
