Hilton Head Golf Course Profile: Oyster Reef Golf Club

Hilton Head vacation rentalsLocated on the north side of the island within Hilton Head Plantation is Oyster Reef Golf Club, a Rees Jones-designed 18-hole Hilton Head golf course.

Oyster Reef offers plenty of Lowcountry natural beauty as it winds around lagoons and vegetation with views of the inlet to Port Royal Sound. In fact, it’s best known for its par 3 No. 6 hole, which looks out over Port Royal Sound and is one of the most photographed golf holes on the island.

Opened in 1982, Oyster Reef has received numerous awards and accolades over the years, including being named one of the Top 25 new golf courses in America upon opening. Golf Digest gave the course 4 stars on its 2008-2009 list of Best Places to Play, and it’s been voted one of the Top 20 courses in the Carolinas.

On site, you’ll find a practice facility for honing your swing, putting and short game. It offers a driving range, putting green, chipping area and sand bunkers. The course also offers private instruction for individuals or groups and has an on-site golf pro shop with equipment and apparel. There’s also a restaurant at the club with a variety of menu items and indoor and outdoor dining options.
