Hilton Head Surf LessonsIf you’re coming to the beach, you might as well learn to “hang ten,” right? Hilton Head Island offers daily opportunities to learn how to catch a wave – and ride it! – for all ages.

Hilton Head Outfitters Surf Camp

At Hilton Head Outfitters Surf Camp, you’ll learn the basic skills required for surfing. AvailableMonday through Friday twice a day for 90 minutes at Palmetto Dunes resort, this camp focuses on the fundamentals and safety to get you looking like a pro in no time.

Instructor Captain Byron Sewell, who has more than 35 years of surfing experience, shows even the youngest kiddos all the skills they need to successfully ride a wave. The best part? Everyone gets a helping of watermelon in celebration at the end of class.

Sea Pines Beach Club Surf Camp

They teach the fundamentals to get you on your feet and riding a wave for the first time, as well as the basics of positioning, paddling, surf etiquette, ocean knowledge and water safety. They say after your first lesson you’ll be ready to rent a board and surf on your own!

Surf Camp is available Monday-Saturday through Labor Day. Call 877-290-4386 to reserve a spot.

If you’ve caught a wave or two in your time, but don’t own a surf board, you can also rent one at Hilton Head Outfitters by the day or week. They offer 8-foot and 9-foot soft top boards, as well as skim boards and boogie boards. H2O sports also offers surf board rentals for either two hours or all day.

Now, get out there and show us your skills! Be sure to share photos on our Facebook page!
