Love live music? You can enjoy plenty on your next Hilton Head vacation. The island has produced several talented bands and musicians that you can see on your visit.

Here are 5 of our favorites:

Shan Tan & the Oyster Reefers – Shannon Tanner is staple around these parts with his family-friendly performances at Shelter Cove Harbour’s HarbourFest for the last 25 years. He recently created a Jimmy Buffet tribute band called Shan Tan & the Oyster Reefers, which you can catch on Thursdays during summer at Shelter Cove’s Parrot Palooza.

Target the BandTarget the Band, a trio of musicians, plays everything from the classics to popular music. Find them regularly at Ruby Lee’s and Zepplin’s Station, as well as at seasonal events like Music on the Harbour at Shelter Cove Harbour.

Deas GuyZ – A very popular band around Hilton Head Island, Deas GuyZ is a group of six men who perform an entertaining mix of Old Motown, Rhythm and Blues, Pop, Rock, Reggae and Dance beats. Find them at the Jazz Corner most Sunday nights and at lots of wedding receptions!

Lowcountry Boil – We’re not short of Bluegrass here in the Lowcountry, and Lowcountry Boil is one of the best Bluegrass bands around. They’re regulars at Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks.

The Headliners – Possibly the most requested wedding band in the Southeast, you won’t want to miss The Headliners when you’re in town! A six-piece horn band, The Headliners perform Big Band, the Classic 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll, Beach Music, Motown, Disco Hits from the 70’s to Hits from the 90’s – pretty much anything you can dance to.

Did you know two other popular musicians also hail from South Carolina? Native sons Darius Rucker (formerly of Hootie & the Blowfish) and Edwin McCain both hit the big time and return to their roots to play quite often, so keep your eye out!
