Gullah culture is a big part of the story and life of Hilton Head Island, and each year we celebrate all things Gullah as part of a month-long festival during February. This years’ event, which runs Feb. 1-28, includes a variety of events from art and music to food and crafts.

If you’ll be on the island during February, consider choosing one of the following popular events to attend and learn just a little more about the island and its culture.

Held at the Coastal Discovery Museum, this event includes cooking demonstrations and sampling of some of the delicious Gullah recipes and food, as well as Gullah and African crafts for sale, storytelling and live music.

Listen to the beautiful Gullah music as performed by Time for 2, a duo of youth that combines the harmonious sounds of classic instruments. The event will be held at St. James Baptist Church.
